Small Creek Stress Relief
I only had one day this past weekend to play around with so I made a call and twisted a buddies arm until he agreed to hit the water with me. Basically the same story as my last few trips , good fishing but nothing of any bragging size was caught.
No matter , I got just what I needed out of the trip , a peaceful day floating on a small stream with no cell phones , computers or other annoyances to bother me.
The cooler weather this past week did seem to have the fish a little more active. I fished basically the same streamer all day and the fish chased it more like they were in Spring as opposed to the dog days of summer.
Not much else to report , just a fine day on the water with a good friend...works for me.

such a beautiful area!
ReplyDeleteThanks Theresa...it's a surprisingly beautiful little creek even though it runs through several small towns in this area. It's too small to attract many people so it's always peaceful.
DeleteJeff, beautiful stream...........
ReplyDeleteGood fishing........................
Good friends........................
Good food............................
May be tough to beat that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Thanks Mel...those look like 4 ingredients to a day well spent to me. The only thing better would have been a campfire under the stars at night instead of the long drive back home!!
DeleteYeah, really beautiful water!!
ReplyDeleteThat streamer looks interesting. Would probably be a great shad imitation. In a size or two smaller, it looks like something the White Bass might go for as they start their Fall Frenzy near the end of this month. Would you mind sharing the pattern/recipe for that fly?
No problem Dave , give me a few days and I'll post up a pattern sheet and recipe for those flies. I've had several requests for it actually and just havn't gotten around to posting it.
DeleteThat fly has caught smallies , brown trout , rainbows , largemouth and wipers so it's pretty versatile.
That last fish looks ready to throw down. Give him a few more years and he'll be a beast...he just looks mean. Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteThanks man....he does kind of have a mean look to him doesn't he?? Hopefully we will meet again!
DeleteFried Chicken, sour cream and onion chips and a PBR. You even make a trip like this worth while.
ReplyDeleteIt's all in the details , a good streamside lunch can sometimes be the highlight of the day when you're not catching fish (which for me is more than I'd like to admit!).
DeleteThat is a beautiful stream, and those are nice smallies. No better stress relief.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim...Just like your Trout Lake , those little streams are my escape from everything.
Deletenice looking stress relief crick!
ReplyDeleteIt is that...a beautiful little Ozark creek for sure.
DeleteSorry to hear you did not get the catch you were looking for. Glad to hear though you found a nice relaxing spot. That has to count for something.
ReplyDeleteThanks....and actually that counts for alot. The fishing is just a bonus , getting away from the everyday rat-race and enjoying some peace and relaxation is the main point.
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
Looks like you found a great place to fish and were hopefully able to avoid all the drunk floaters at this location.
ReplyDeleteThanks man...actually we didn't see another person on the water all day. That's one of the main reasons I've been hitting the smaller waters here recently , the fish are a little spookier in that skinny clear water but the creeks require too much dragging for anyone to want to float them besides us.
