6/27 - 6/28...."Summertime Weekend Slumming"

Photobucket
Nothing too exciting over the past weekend for me , I'm so far behind on chores around home that I still have camping equipment piled up in my garage from the last trip to the Current River. That being said, most of my time the last two days was spent playing catch-up and taking care of those everyday things that get neglected while we try to make a dime. It's not good for my sanity (or the well being of those around me!) to go too long without a fishing fix so I managed to get away a couple of times over the two days and throw a little line around. No exotic locales or fish laden destinations this week, just a morning of carping on the community mudhole with minimal success and some pond hopping to play with a few gills and largemouth. Summer time looks like it's here to stay for a while which for me means trading in the flyrod for a swimsuit and a cooler of beer and hanging at the lake on some weekends. As I sit here and look at the outdoor thermometer which reads 97 degrees in the shade that doesn't sound like such a bad thing actually. Not enough time spent on the water the last couple days for much of a report so here's a little montage of pics from the weekend to tell the story...kind of an ode to Summer.

  2. Thanks emb , not a bad weekend of fish for just playing around in my spare time. Although I'm still looking for that big bass , every pond I've fished is supposed to have em , they're just not eating what I'm throwing. But who's complaining??

  6. Thanks Trout , It's pretty hard to beat summertime farm ponds and a cooler of beer for pure fun and relaxation.

Troutdawg - I've been chasing lots of warmwater species myself lately , the carp outsmart me most the time..the big bass have been playing hard to get and the big gills are what I fall back on when everything else gives me the middle finger! Thanks for the comments...Jeff

  8. Richard - those fish got my respect for sure! They kick my a$!#$ all the time and prove once again they rank right up there with any other sportfish you can chase with a flyrod.
